Ceylon Tea Trails Summary
Ceylon Tea Trails is the world’s first tea bungalow resort, perched at an altitude of 1250 metres in Sri Lanka’s panoramic Central Highlands, parts of which are a World Heritage site. This award-winning Relais & Chateaux resort comprises five restored colonial era tea planters’ bungalows on working tea estates, offering authentic period furnishings, butler service & gourmet cuisine. Rates are inclusive of all meals and drinks including selected spirits, liqueurs, wines and beers.
The five luxurious bungalows are connected by walking trails through stunningly beautiful Ceylon Tea gardens, spaced between 4km and 15km apart. Three bungalows - Summerville, Dunkeld, and Castlereagh - enjoy a lakeside perch, while Norwood and Tientsin are nestled amid the valleys with mountain and tea estate views. Ceylon Tea Trails encourages guests to visit the other bungalows to enjoy a meal or afternoon tea.
Room types span four categories:
Ceylon Tea Trails offers an array of amenities include a tennis court and swimming pools. Access to a boat and kayaks allows for exploration of nearby Castlereagh Lake, and whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and other excursions can be arranged with prior notice.
Since the bungalows are on working tea estates, guests can also see firsthand how the famous Ceylon tea is made, using a traditional manufacturing process unchanged for a century. A complimentary daily tour at Dunkeld Tea Factory is included.
