LUX* Belle Mare Resort & Villas

LUX* Belle Mare is a stunning resort located on a 1km stretch of pristine white sandy beach at Belle Mare on the East coast of Mauritius. Once the flagship property of the LUX* brand on the island, it has undergone an extensive refurbishment following substantial fire damage, and reopened its doors to guests in October 2023. The resort's fresh, minimalist interiors and lush tropical gardens create a serene and inviting atmosphere.

The resort features 174 suites, arranged in staggered blocks amidst mature tropical gardens. Each suite, decorated in subtle shades of white with a few touches of colour, offers a terrace or balcony and can comfortably accommodate a family of two adults and two children of any age. For those seeking more space and privacy, the 12 villas with private pools located in their own area at the North end of the resort are an excellent choice. Additionally, connecting suites are available to accommodate larger families, underscoring the resort’s family-friendly focus.

LUX* Belle Mare has a lively and active ambiance. The expansive swimming pool, surrounded by the main restaurant, bar, and other facilities, serves as the central hub of activity throughout the day. Couples seeking a quieter poolside experience might prefer the villas. The resort also offers a comprehensive range of diversions for children and teenagers, with the kids club ‘Play’ and the teens club ‘Studio 17’ providing a weekly program of engaging activities. Parents can enjoy some well-deserved relaxation at the LUX* Me Spa, the fitness centre, or by participating in various land and water sports.

Dining at LUX* Belle Mare is a diverse and delightful experience. The Mondo main restaurant offers all-day dining with a modern buffet and live-cooking stations. Beach Rouge, with its beach club vibe, Duck Laundry for fine dining, and Rolls Street for Southeast Asian street food, are among our favourites.
However, during our visit, Amari by Vineet did not quite live up to its signature restaurant billing. The resort offers a range of meal plans, but we recommend the All-Inclusive option as in-resort post-refurbishment prices can be steep, and upselling is noticeable.

For active families seeking a beachfront holiday in Mauritius with ample dining options and a plethora of activities, LUX* Belle Mare is an excellent choice.
