Our Opinion of Meyyafushi Maldives

We haven't yet set foot on Meyyafushi — and that always feels like a small omission when writing about somewhere — but on paper, this is one of the most interesting new openings in the Maldives. The combination of a genuinely strong premium all-inclusive (seven dining outlets, 24-hour café, underwater restaurant, wine cellar) with an unusually ambitious activity offering is rare to see in a single resort.

The overwater padel court has already earned its place in Angelfish lore. We are extremely keen to visit this year, if only to watch guests enthusiastically slap balls into the lagoon while pretending that's where they meant to put it. The glass-bottom infinity pool in the adults-only Sky Bar sounds genuinely lovely, and there's enough variety across the restaurants to keep a fortnight-long stay feeling fresh rather than repetitive.

Meyyafushi went through the typical early teething challenges that come with a new opening, but the recent operational update suggests those have been taken seriously — strengthened culinary leadership, refined menus, and a fully staffed team across all outlets. For clients who want a new-generation all-inclusive with proper dining variety and a lot to do (without feeling like a production line), this is worth serious consideration. We're watching it closely, and we'll update this the moment we've been.

Meyyafushi Maldives FAQs

Where is Meyyafushi Maldives and how do you get there?

Meyyafushi Maldives is in the Lhaviyani Atoll, north of Malé, around a 35-minute scenic seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport. That's a comfortable journey — long enough for the full island-spotting experience from the air, short enough that you're not losing half a day to transit. The atoll itself is known for excellent diving, with some of the Maldives' most renowned dive sites nearby.

What is the dining like at Meyyafushi Maldives?

Dining is one of Meyyafushi Maldives's strongest cards — seven outlets, all included within the premium all-inclusive package, with genuine variety rather than the usual three restaurants on rotation. The headline act is Bubble, an underwater restaurant serving fine dining surrounded by coral gardens. Beyond that you'll find Mediterranean at Thaana, Asian cuisine at Alif, teppanyaki at Sukun, a 24-hour café (Hatharu Dhan), and the newly opened Raa wine cellar offering sommelier-led pairings. The team has recently been strengthened with a dedicated Culinary Director and specialist Chinese and Maldivian chefs, so the quality is on an upward trajectory.

Is Meyyafushi Maldives suitable for families?

Yes, Meyyafushi Maldives is well set up for families. The Kids Club is a substantial space with an indoor playhouse, pool, mini sports court and climbing wall — more than most Maldivian resorts offer. There are dedicated family-friendly villa categories including the Family Water Villa and the Three Bedroom Beach Suite, and enough dining variety to keep even fussy eaters happy across a longer stay. The multi-bedroom suites also work well for multi-generational groups. And for the grown-ups, there's an adults-only Sky Bar & Sunken Lounge when you need a quiet moment.

Does Meyyafushi Maldives really have an overwater padel court?

It really does. Meyyafushi Maldives is home to the Maldives' first overwater padel tennis court, and it's fully operational. For padel players, it's a genuine draw — nowhere else in the Maldives offers quite that combination. For everyone else, it's tremendous entertainment value watching from the bar.
