Our Opinion of The St Regis Le Morne Resort

The most recent Angelfish visitors to The St Regis Le Morne Resort were Dan & Jo.

Seated beneath the majestic Le Morne mountain on the southwestern tip of Mauritius, the St Regis Le Morne Resort boasts a stunning beachfront setting. Formerly the JW Marriott Mauritius, the resort has rebranded as of May 2025.

The 172 newly refurbished suites offer a fresh and contemporary feel, with even the entry-level Junior Suites providing a generous 65 sqm of space. However, the desk/dressing table placement in the bathroom is an odd configuration. For those seeking more space and luxury, the resort offers beachfront access suites, grand suites, and the tranquil Manor House Spa suites. The expansive 4-bedroom Grand Beachfront Villa is a refined haven, perfect for larger families.

One of the resort's strengths lies in its diverse and excellent dining options. The elegant Le Manoir dining room impresses with its lavish breakfast buffet, while the rustic charm of the Boathouse Bar & Grill and the oriental sophistication of Floating Market provide enticing alternatives. Atsuko delivers meticulously crafted Japanese dishes, but our favorite was Simply India, which brings style and finesse to delectable Indian cuisine.

As expected from a five-star modern resort, St Regis Le Morne offers a wide array of facilities. The water sports and dive center, spa, fitness club, and Kite Flyers kids club are all top-notch. We appreciated the serene library for catching up on work and enjoyed the fun-filled games room and private cinema.

During our visit, the service was good but not flawless, and we also noticed some pushy upselling, which seems to be a common issue among large international hotel brands. Despite these minor drawbacks, we found the resort to be an improvement from its earlier days. St Regis Le Morne could be an excellent choice for active couples, families, or groups of friends who appreciate high-quality dining options and a wide range of activities.

The St Regis Le Morne Resort Summary

Set on the south-western tip of Mauritius at the foot of the UNESCO-listed Le Morne mountain, The St Regis Le Morne Resort occupies one of the Indian Ocean's most iconic beaches. The resort's colonial-inspired architecture and seaside manor aesthetic house 172 all-suite, all-butler accommodations.

Suite categories range from 65 sqm Junior Suites (garden or partial ocean views) and Family Suites with interconnecting rooms, up to the Ocean Haven and Heritage categories with beach access or private balconies. The Manor House Spa Suites (146-214 sqm) are set within the original manor house and offer in-suite spa rituals. At the top end, the Grand Beachfront Villa spans up to 1,659 sqm across one to five bedrooms, with a heated infinity pool, three plunge pools, a private gym, steam room, dedicated chef and round-the-clock butler service.

Five dining outlets span international and regional cuisines: Le Manoir (French-Creole), Atsuko (Japanese teppanyaki and sushi), The Floating Market (Southeast Asian), Indya (Indian), and The Boathouse Bar & Grill (Aegean-inspired seafood and grill). La Patisserie serves pastries and coffee, and The St Regis Bar offers cocktails with a hand-painted mural of Le Morne.

The St Regis Spa covers 2,000 sqm with 12 treatment rooms, couples suites and a relaxation terrace. Leisure facilities include two heated pools (main pool and garden pool), a fitness club, tennis court, watersports and diving centre, the Kite Flyers kids club (ages 4-12), a Drawing Room for teens with games and PS5, a library, and La Palme d'Or private cinema. Evening rituals include Sabrage at Sunset, Afternoon Tea by the Sea, and the Bloody Mary Ritual with Mauritian flair.

St Regis Butler Service is available to all guests, with anticipatory, personalised attention as standard.
