Our Opinion of Baraza Resort and Spa

Baraza is a beautiful 30-villa resort on Bwejuu beach, with architecture inspired by the era of the Zanzibar Sultans: Swahili arches, hand-carved cement and brass lanterns give it real character. Every villa has its own private plunge pool, and the atmosphere is calm and elegant.

Facilities are strong for a boutique property, with a spa, PADI dive centre, tennis and a kids club, and the all-inclusive basis makes it an easy, relaxing choice for couples and families alike.

Baraza Resort and Spa Summary

Baraza Resort & Spa, part of the Zanziber Collection, is situated on the south east coast of Zanzibar, around a 50 minute drive from the airport and Stone Town. The resort sits on Bwejuu beach, a stretch of sand that Condé Nast Traveller named among the world's top 30 island beaches.

The resort has 30 villas inspired by Zanzibar's Sultan-era heritage, blending Arabic, Swahili and Indian design with Swahili arches, hand-carved cement decoration and brass lanterns. There are 14 one-bedroom villas (148 square metres), 15 two-bedroom villas (193 square metres) and one Royal Beach two-bedroom villa (254 square metres) on the ocean front. Every villa has a spacious terrace, private plunge pool, living room, walk-in dressing room and mini bar with tea and coffee making facilities, with a freestanding bath in the master bathroom.

Facilities include a spa with lap pool, yoga, swimming pools, a fitness centre and tennis court, a watersports centre, a PADI scuba diving centre, a library and a kids club.

Dining options include a breakfast restaurant, main dining room, poolside lunch restaurant and the Dhahabu Bar in the evenings. Stays are all-inclusive, with breakfast, lunch and dinner, in-house wines, beer and cocktails, afternoon tea and soft drinks. Long trousers are required for gentlemen at dinner.
