Legend Hill sits high on the Marguery Black River plantation on Mauritius' west coast, with the bay and the Indian Ocean laid out below it. It is a setting that holds your attention, and one you will want to return to. The styling blends contemporary elegance with South African lodge rusticity, using natural materials and indoor-outdoor living throughout.
There are 46 accommodations, and the larger ones are worth the step up -- the Premium Suites, Penthouses and Villas reach 455 sqm, open onto generous terraces facing the ocean, and several have private pools. Many come with fully equipped kitchens, which makes a real difference for families and longer stays, and the biggest categories suit larger groups travelling together.
Dining is the draw. The resort's menus are designed by chef Glenn Viel, who holds three Michelin stars and a Green star at L'Oustau de Baumaniere, with the gastronomic restaurant for fine dining in the evenings and a bistro overlooking the ocean for relaxed all-day dining in a beach club setting.
