Lakaz Chamarel

Lakaz Chamarel is a small, yet splendid, boutique-style lodge, nestled in the protected Black River Gorges natural heritage park in the south west of the island. Lakaz is approximately 55 minutes from the airport.

The beauty of this inland location at 400m altitude is truly extraordinary, with rolling hills, waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife - a perfect location for walking, cycling and exploration. The beautiful beaches of Morne and Baie du Cap are only 10-15 minutes away, as are the small coastal villages of Black River and La Gaulette, while the capital, Port Louis, is only one hour away.

Lakaz, with its "green concept" philosophy, is set in its own 12 hectare tropical gardens - it is unique, refined and unpretentious with high standards of luxury, including a spa and two swimming pools. The hotel has a main building with reception, lovely lounge, TV room and library.

Each of the 20 rooms and suites is decorated with a different theme, representing the diversity of different cultures on the island, whilst retaining its Mauritian charm with the use of wood, slate and terracotta.
