Naäma shares its DNA with Vakkaru, and that is the first thing worth knowing. The attention to detail, the warmth of service and the calibre of guest experience that we rate so highly in the Maldives translate directly here, which is no small thing for a new resort.
On the Al Aqah coast in Fujairah, between the Hajar mountains and Snoopy Island, it trades an atoll for one of the few stretches of UAE shoreline where the sea is the main event. The 44 standalone one to four-bedroom pool villas are generous, each with a private pool, garden and butler, and Merana Spa, the Japanese and Middle Eastern kitchens and a full programme of family experiences all carry the same sense of quality.
For anyone who loves Vakkaru, Naäma is a natural companion, and the two would make a superb UAE and Maldives twin-centre. It also works as a destination in its own right: 90 minutes from Dubai, with real space and privacy, and far more character than the usual east-coast stopover.
