The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort
Our Opinion of The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort
The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort sits on one of Abu Dhabi's finest stretches of private beach, its Mediterranean-inspired architecture giving it a distinctly unhurried character that sets it apart from the gleaming towers of the capital's business district. Spacious rooms and suites all have their own balcony, and every single one looks out over something worth looking at: either the white sands curving down to the sea, or the rolling greens of the Gary Player-designed golf course next door.
The facilities here are genuinely extensive. Five swimming pools, the Iridium Spa, a well-equipped gym, and both tennis and squash courts mean there is plenty to fill a day without ever setting foot on the beach. Dining is a real strength too: Turquoiz handles beach lunches and sundowners with ease, Oleá brings a Mediterranean flavour, and Sontoya offers a change of pace with South East Asian cooking. For something more classic, 55&5th The Grill does the job well, and the Drawing Room and Manhattan Lounge are good spots to retreat to in the evening.
This is a resort that genuinely works for a range of guests. Golfers will appreciate the course access, couples will find the beach and spa more than sufficient, and families are well catered for with the range of pools and varied dining options.
If you are after a resort in Abu Dhabi that delivers both active and restful in equal measure, this is one of the most satisfying options on the island. It is a property we know well and recommend with real confidence.
