Nika Island Resort & Spa, Maldives
Ari AtollOur Opinion of Nika Island Resort
Named after its majestic banyan tree, Nika is an established traditional-style resort island in the North Ari Atoll. Opened in 1983 the resort was for many years exclusive to the Italian market but has now opened its doors to a wider audience. We're overdue a revisit so check back for more details in a few months.
Nika Island Resort Summary
Nika represents "the Maldives that used to be," an idyll in the middle of the Indian Ocean, unchanged despite the rapid development of the Maldives over the past forty years. It is located in North Ari, just a brief 20-25 minute seaplane flight from Malé.
All of its 44 villas have been built according to the traditional Maldivian architectural style. Being one of the first resorts built in the country, everything on the island has been constructed using coral blocks, coconut palm trunks and palm leaves. A collection of antiques and unique Maldivian works of art decorate the interiors of all the villas.
Guests at Nika Island can enjoy the restaurant, bar and coffee Shop, which serve a variety of Maldivian, Asian and European dishes. Visitors can also make use of the island's Lotus Spa, which offers a range of massage, and beauty treatments. The main attraction however is the the Maldives' underwater world, with and easily accessible house reef and local dive sites.
