Cocoa Island by COMO South Male atoll

Our Opinion
A small, intimate island owned by COMO (Singaporean billionaire Ong Beng Seng’s hotel venture) and the island is a quick 35 minute speedboat ride from Male.

All 33 suites lead directly into the water and their design is inspired by the traditional Maldivian ‘Dhoni’ boat. Cocoa has for a long time been in the Top Ten Maldives resorts, based on its uber-cool reputation, understated luxury, attention to detail and great service. The rooms are simple and well done, and you can easily circumnavigate the Island in 15 minutes.

The main restaurant Ufaa caters for the most discerning palate whilst being unpretentious. The spa is everything you’d expect from a top class resort and the dive school caters for all levels with friendly and professional service.

Cocoa is expensive, but you get what you pay for. Watch out for the low season specials, when you can get some great deals.
Cocoa Island is an intimate private Maldives island resort encircled with powdery white sand with 33 over-water suites, each with direct access into turquoise lagoon from where you can explore the exceptional house reef. Prepare for an understated luxury experience, including South Indian-influenced cuisine and world class diving. Relax and unwind with a variety of holistic, Asian-inspired treatments at Shambhala Retreat, the island's own spa.

Dining & Restaurants
Cocoa Island offers excellent dining - the menus are modern, light and heavily influenced by Southern India. In addition, Asian and Mediterranean-style dishes are available. The resort also prides itself with its range of Shambhala Cuisine, incorporating organic ingredients, vitamins and sea minerals.

The main restaurant run by Australian-born Executive Chef Timothy de Souza who draws inspiration from the Malabar Coast and local seafood as well as creating modern dishes inpsired by South East Asia and the Mediterranean. The kitchen has a tandoor oven, ideal for the grilling of meats, vegetables and fish. Three times a week Ufaa offers a set Indian, Thai and Seafood Barbecue dinner menu.
