Our Opinion
OBLU opened on 1st November 2015 on the lovely island of Helengeli. We were fans of Helengeli before it closed for renovation, as it's in one of the remoter parts of the North Male atoll and has an accessible house reef. Under new ownership and management from Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, OBLU markets itself as a four star All Inclusive only resort. They have achieved a more contemporary, colourful and fresh product, with a true Maldivian feel...and those of you who loved Helengeli before will be pleased to know that the "soul" of the island is very much intact!

Summary
The resort is a 50-minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport. Helengeli Island has always had an excellent reputation for its unique house reef, just metres from the shoreline. It attracts a fantastic array of marine life, corals and fish throughout the year - always popular with snorkelers and divers!

OBLU offers 114 villas in 4 categories, some beach facing and some lagoon facing. As well as the Beach Villas and Deluxe Beach Villas, there are semi-overwater Lagoon Villas with private plunge pools and two 2-Bedroom Beach Suites with Pool, perfect for families or friends travelling together.
Facilities include one main restaurant and bar, an a la carte Beach Grill, a fully-equipped gymnasium, spa complex, swimming pool and a dive school.
