A classy and very up-market resort, where even the stars manage to hide.

Set on one of the largest islands in the Maldives (actually 2, but joined by a bridge), Reethi Rah lives up to its name of ‘beautiful island‘ (in the local language of Dhivehi). Although a big island it only has 130 villas, with the smallest being 135sqm, arranged around 12 sandy coves. It is hard to find an island in the Maldives with so much space and exclusivity, nor one that is so extensively manicured - so much so that it lacks the 'Maldivian' feel of some other premium resorts - but this is the way Reethi's clientele like it.


There are all the mod-cons and amenities you’d expect from a top class resort. The infinity pool is the congregation point for most people and is one of the best in the Maldives, nestled next to Fanditha, the beach restaurant and bar area with low level sofas and hammocks – the pick of the restaurants and ideal for a lazy afternoon in the sun or chilling in the evening.

Activities are numerous and due to the large nature of the island jogging and cycling are the best way around, although there is always the courtesy buggy when it's time for supper! The kids club is excellent with many activities to keep the smaller ones and even the teenagers occupied.

In resort prices are eye-watering, and guests are enticed to spend on extras at every turn (for $80++ someone will advise you on the optimum time to re-apply your sun lotion so that you keep on track with your pre-planned tanning targets), so expect a hefty bill at check-out.
